I’m always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught – Winston Churchill
I love to learn, but I don’t always like be taught.
A common theme with many teachers in my life is that there’s been at least one time where I didn’t like them very much because I disagreed with something there were trying to teach me.
In each of these instances, I thought I was right and they were wrong. But as it turns out, I was wrong and they were right, pretty much every time.
If you’ve ever been in this situation, the bum part is that you may believe your right for a long time, maybe even years. And then one day, you get slapped upside the head with the truth that you’ve been wrong the whole time.
You realize that, although you have the brains to justify that you believe you’re right; what you don’t have is the life experience to know the truth.
Respect teachers and those who teach you. Their words may not always resonate to your situation, but the experience behind their words may very well be the one thing you lack that ends up teaching you something you don’t know.
